First.....for years, Rs have denigrated the term liberal....to the point where it has become embarrassing to say you are a liberal. Liberal is bad, conservative good. Secondly, if you look at the two parts of the poll down below which haven't transposed well, one sees that 35% of the respondents see themselves as Dems, 21% as Republicans. However, when the terms liberal and conservative are used, the percentages reverse themselves........they are 23% liberal and 35% conservative. That doesn't make much sense. It suggests that a large portion of the Dems are conservatives which I don't believe is true. In reality I think it has more to do with the negative connotation that has developed around liberalism during the last 20 years. In addition, I don't think people realize they are as liberal as they are. Before posting on this thread I saw myself as more moderate. But after reading the stuff from the righties on this thread, I had to agree.....I am liberal.
