Things were so bad that some countries moved Capemax ships based on barter, something that hasn't happened in centuries.

So, you will agree that there are alternative means of dealing with international trade?

Maybe not so convenient and fungible as money transferred via bank, but it works and has for thousands of years.

"Funny so few people think "what if?" all those insolvent banks had stopped functioning."

I know. The truly amusing thing is that all these (R)'s style themselves as amateur economists. Yet they totally miss this aspect. Things were so bad that some countries moved Capemax ships based on barter, something that hasn't happened in centuries. Yet, somehow, this was just a normal downturn...

At one point, there were so many ships docked with no place to go, they claimed you could walk from Singapore to Indonesia without getting your feet wet.

Of course what goes on in the rest of the world outside of the US is of little concern to the Rs.
