Soon the Pentagon will have 1,220,000 civilian employees.
Meanwhile the US Army has 550,000 soldiers.

I was looking at some data from 1999. DOD had 1.4 million in uniform and 700K in civies.

What do all the more than 2 to 1 civilians do for the DOD? We have fewer men/women, fewer pieces of equipment, we have computers that were supposed to cut the paperwork by maybe 5 to 1....

How does the Pentagon justify these numbers?

I don't know how we fix this wrong. Do you have any suggestions?
