No kidding. But I wouldn't be quite so quick to envy it.

Being "comfortably numb" in this situation is probably a result of a lack of understanding.

Look Joe, obama is excersizing the power of the presidency. These things have happened with other presidents. Your point is a good one. I dont know all the details and i hesitate just accepting barones piece as gospel on this. But assuming your right, your leap to mussolini is uncalled for. Hell, look at nixon with law breaking, truman and steel strike, bush and torture, presidents overstepping not all that new. Soon you can start calling for his impeachment based on property rights breach. Meanwhile as you said no one went to court so as the lawyers say its moot.

"I kind of envy your ability to remain comfortably numb."

sometimes its just putting events in historical perspective. Did i mention FDR trying to pack the Supreme court or sending Japanese americans to concentration camps. Shit happens and when its something your are passionate about, speak out. But please put it in perspective.

When the president discards the rule of law, because it is no longer convenient, the rule of law that the president swore to uphold, what do you become?

What law did Obama violate?

I don't think this is an economic argument any more. This is beyond which economic theory will work the best. When you lose property rights at whim of the president, why put your money at risk, acquiring property to help create goods and services?

Whose property rights were taken?
