I wasn't thinking tryptophan. I was thinking protein.

I don't generally have trouble falling asleep. I turn on the TV's sleep timer and drift off while watching. But once in a while I get thinking about being hungry and need a little something. Eggs work great. But I have to wake all the way up to cook one. If I have a bit of chicken in the fridge, just half an ounce, that works and I don't have to turn the lights on and become too awake. I thought the whey might work like the chicken to take the edge off and would be more conveniently available. That was the plan.

I might find out tonite if it works. I've had fewer than 500 calories today so there's a chance I won't be asleep before my stomach reminds me how little I ate. We'll see.

I, too, have read that tryptophan being sleep inducing is a figment.
