These crazy, apocalyptic exaggerations have become the norm in many publications now. It's fashionable and exciting and a big emotional thrill to rant about doom and complete destruction because one particular political group lost its grip on power in the country.

Kinda sad and pathetic too, with so many folks really experiencing the emotional rollercoaster these rants bring with them, even though their daily lives really haven't changed one whit, and mostly won't in years to come.

So if I understand the writer correctly, he thinks "non-leftist" ideas include things that would be prosecuted as hate crimes- basically violence which is motivated by hate because of the vicitim's racial, religious, or sexual orientation.

It's fascinating that this author thinks those violent few who would be prosecuted for hate crimes would be "non-leftists". :-) Kind of a complement really, Suma. That man has basically just indicted his whole peer group. With friends like him, the right really doesn't need enemies. You see before you, in this article, the reason why the "non-leftist" base is shrinking like a snowcone in July.

"
So now we have a word for Democrats' eye-popping hypocrisy when they wrap themselves in the mantle of free speech while simultaneously attempting to suppress non-Leftist ideas."

Thank you, thank you for saying so clearly that hate speech isn't coming from the left :-) I'm not sure that's TRUE (since I think there's hate speech on both fringes)- but my, what a nice thing to say.

Anytime a decent
bill that would help end discrimination appears FEAR of it emanating from Communistic forces is interjected into
why it is inappropriate.

I don't consider it a decent bill nor one that would help end discrimination.

As for the communist reference well it is true that any argument that "X did Y", with an evil and/or unpopular X is almost always a really weak argument (except perhaps it might not be weak as a matter of rhetoric). After all even the worst groups also do lots of things that aren't bad. Its unfortunate that so much of the article uses the guilt by association argument.
