"Wind is a free source of fuel."

There is no free source of energy.

Gotta watch the nuance in his comment..

Wind IS free. The costs come from converting it into a useful form of energy.

I've no problem with wind energy, if properly located for maximum effect, and a reasonable longevity and ROI. Once the up-front costs are paid, operating them is a matter of maintenance and minimal operational costs (presumably) and there is no need to pay for additional fuel as with coal and NG.

But one of the externalities of wind power is the cost of building transmission capacity to get it to the grid. That's one of the little things T. Boone Pickens is pushing the Feds to accomplish for his industry.

I'm sorry Brumar but I totally disagree with you.

Right now I'm being heated by the sun falling on my body and the near environment courtesy of the sun and it didn't cost me a dime!
