They would think otherwise if guided by responsible adults who model and encourage noble endeavor for good and conscionable purposes. Not all adults "model noble endeavor"; that's why you get kids to think through an issue and determine its consequences. Its an important developmental step in becoming a responsible adult. You can't stop adults from smoking but you can get kids to see the dangers associated with that habit and then hope that will keep them from taking up the habit. BTW many actors and rockers......the people many kids use as models...........smoke. If you think the average adult can compete with the appeal of a Lindsey Lohan or B. Spears or one of the Gossip Girls, I've got news for you......they can't.
