We could also tax X-Box players, and televisions I suppose. Why not comfortable chairs while we're at it? That might help "get them off their asses" as you desire.

Instead of negative inducements we should look for positive incentives and barriers toward using those incentives. Taxing certain elements contained in food is just a way of raising taxes while pretending to do something healthy. If you want to encourage more Americans to live healthy lives, I have a better idea.

Make every school, private and public a no sui zone within 1/2 mile of the school. Then open the gym and fields up 24 hours a day, and allow all sporting enterprises to use the facilities.

Do the same thing with community base ball-fields, soccer fields etc.

Of course this idea would never be considered, because the trial Lawyer lobby has a stranglehold on the Democatic party, which is in complete control today.
