Both Germany and the US are net recipients of immigrants, but the US receives immigrants at a higher rate. Number 1 (by a lot) in absolute terms, and number 31 compared to its population, while Germany is number 3 in absolute terms and number 45 compared to its population

I think you misunderstood the point I was making. We get immigrants but they are not from economically sound countries like Germany. We're drawing people from very poor countries where any improvement is up from where they are. Why should that statistic be impressive? And yet, whenever someone criticizes the quality of life in the US, that's the first point a winger brings to the discussion. Its meaningless. More importantly, the American quality of life is not as great as some wingers want to believe.
