Many years ago I worked for the city of Philadelphia. The streets dept workers used to cook their chicken strapped under the hood of the trucks while they were driving around downing their wine. Could be related, but you'd have to check with patron.

Slumdog, as fate would have it, i had beer can chicken for the first time in my life last weekend. my friend cooked it up while we were watching the game. apparently, he opened up a beer can and stuck into the chicken (maybe game hen, it was smaller) and stuck that sucker on the bbq grill. it had a unique flavor that was quite tasty.
