I know. It's not very fair. My immigrant grandmother came here, became a citizen, didn't work a day in her life and got 20 years worth of social security. All legal, but unbelievably unfair.

Please don't suggest that you have the slightest idea about what SS is then make a gibberish post like this.

What FDR did was force the US to stick a toe into civilization and not let the old and feeble starve.

People like your grandmother are the essence of what the program was designed to do.

Fairness has nothing to do with it.

Real countries don't let folks starve.

We can be a real country or a Republican designed self serving greed utopia.

You choose....

didn't work a day in her life

She didn't? And did she get some sort of SS based on the job a housewife does, or did she get spousal benefits? And ya know... all that child-rearing (I gather since you around that she did that), cleaning house, cooking, driving children around, etcetc... golly... not much work is it? but again... did she get a check from SS as an unpaid but hardworking (not a day in her life of work) housewife, or did she get spousal benefits?

and what non-working person have you ever met who gets SS, if not spousal benefits? Does such a creature exist?
