When I first started with Kaiser in 2002, my PC had a PA working with him who took the overload. I think most PA's and RN's have been taught to be totally subservient to MD's. You may remember that only 40 years ago an RN was not allowed to use a stethoscope. Instead, she had an cheaper looking device that did exactly the same thing but was called a "Nurse Scope." I noticed on my last visit to Kaiser that the my PC's assistant had a similar device.
