Krugman's correct.
I voted no then, and I would vote the same way today.

Ted, Prop. 13 is being demagogued like I've never seen before. If Krugman wants to argue that people who lived in the same home for 20 years ought to be paying their "fair share," let him. No Democrat in CA will ever take that public position.

Prop 13 is an example of the idiocy that has gripped the Republican party for decades now. You are witnessing the fruit it is bearing CA.

But cowards who flee CA and now live in the Puget Sound will.

LOL.

Ever been shot at, Ten? Ever had a knife pulled on you? Ever had your home broken into 7 times in 12 months? Ever gotten entrapped by rioters and were forced to drive on the sidewalk to get away? Ever tried to get home and get blocked by a wall of flame as buildings were torched by rioters? Ever watch the cops beat up a guy because he was Latino? Ever found yourself driving in a good neighborhood and got caught in a gun fight between the police and would be robbers.......forced to drive blind while you ducked low in your seat? Ever watch a city turn into pure anarchy where the cops did nothing when people violated the laws? Just some of the things I witnessed during my stay in the Hotel California.

And don't talk to me about cowardice........you would be the ultimate weenie. And don't think you are safe in the OC.

What's screws you CA people is the requirement that raising taxes takes a 2/3 vote in the legislature, more than Prop 13 - but it DOES prevent Prop 13 from being repealed.

I think things will have to get truly horrific in CA before anything can change there. Things will be cut, first the easy things, the regulatory agencies, the social services. But then, prisoners will be released, prisons closed, police cut, road maintenance cut - and on and on. Before long, the cuts will start to show. Crime will go out of control. The roads will be constant potholes. CA will start driving like MS.

Eventually, something truly bad will happen, like a nuclear accident at an uninspected San Onofre, a wildfire with not enough firefighters to put it out or an earthquake with no responders.

Because of irresponsible, selfish voters like you.
