Puerto Rico doesn't vote. I've always wondered why we don't just make that place a state.

"I feel the right wing needs to be extinct anyway and am giddy watching it happen-lol."

That is a very naive view point. Its like saying not going to sleep will keep the daylight. You may be setting your self up for disappointment.

There is a great deal that is worthy of conservation. Without effective conservative measures, society would fall into chaotic turmoil. Likewise, there is constant need for change and renewal via effective liberal innovation.

The republican party could disintegrate but there will always be a range of view points from the conservative extreme to the liberal extreme.

"I like ativist judges. IN the words of the great Earl Warren: it does not matter what the law is it matters what is just."

Justice is supreme and the Supremes should know that better than anyone but they also must be loyal to their oaths of office lest the body of the Supreme Court lose credibility. That has happened in the past when pushing popular movements like 'separate but equal,' instead of judging on the basis of law. We have law making bodies. Judges should let them do their job, if the law makers screw up, the judges get to give them a smack.

One problem with that idea is that it is a two edged sword. People can also override laws you like, or ignore constitutional principles you think are important, in the name of getting a decision they think is just.

Even if you have a majority of justices that broadly agree with you, do you really want to totally throw out the idea of the rule of law?

This SC decision serves as an opening against Obama, at least that is what the Republicans think. After all, the Republicans have always managed to get to the top via social issues and this is the one for them, so they think.

It will be interesting to watch their stance on the confirmation of Sotomayor.

Having said that, I do agree with the SC ruling. THere is no place for discrimination in this society. This cannot be called "reverse" discrimination. There is no such term in a society that can take pride in being a discriminationless society.
