Joe:

I agree with you that a hostile takeover can still be pitched directly to the stockholders; however, if a hostile takeover is in the works by some company, I don't think they can wait until PDG gets to the feasibility stage. The date for signing this deal is December 10 and once its signed, PDG only has to do what the contract calls for in order to acquire a 51% interest in the Aldebaran property, no matter who owns the other 49%. So... if someone is gonna try to block this deal and pick up Bema (and 65% of CC) they have until December 10 to make their move. Quite possible, but Placer is not gonna step away from this if that happens. IMO, Placer knows whats there and any takeover attempt by another company would undoubtedly lead to a competing bid by Placer and I would not be surprised, if that happened, to see Bema and Star turn to Placer as their 'white knight' and arrange a friendly merger. Of course, Placer would have to equal or exceed the other company's bid or it would never be approved by the stockholders but I believe they would. Placer needs these ozs and I'm convinced they know whats there.
