" If it wasnt for our global military, there would be 25,000 North Korean troops stationed in your backyard."

Kim conquers America? Only in your fear mongered mind, Mikey.

Tonite I learned that we have troops not only in S. Korea but in Japan as well. 25k in S.Korea; 35k in Japan. Its no wonder SS is only a pittance. We can't afford squat thanks to our global military."

You must really still be in junior high school if you just learned we have troops in Japan and Korea.

I knew we had them in Korea, not Japan.

Blaming our global military for our economic woes is just plain foolish.

Why is it that we can't afford squat and we are one of the richest nations in the world? You tell me what impact a defense budget that is equal to the rest of the world's military spending is going to have on deficits.

If it wasnt for our global military, there would be 25,000 North Korean troops stationed in your backyard.

Its people like you that help get us into this mess. You believe every paranoid talking point put out by the RNC. No wonder you voted for Bush.

Netanyahu meets with Obama and the takeaway....Jerusalem will never be divided and now this...they insist they will continue to build on Palestinian land. The Israelis behave like spoiled, indulgent children but you go ahead and defend their behavior.

I wouldn't condemn someone for not knowing that we had forces in Japan, or even Korea (we have fewer people there but their presence gets mentioned more often). People can't have knowledge in every area. This particular knowledge is unlikely to mean much to the average individual, and even if it effects his votes, contributions, or political statements, those things are unlikely to change the level of forces in either country. Its one vote, one voice, one presumably relatively modest amount of money, against millions. So you could call such lack of knowledge, rational ignorance.

Everyone has to be ignorant about some things, the sum of human knowledge is just too great to know it all, so such rational ignorance is not worthy of blame. However it might be a good idea to avoid arguments based on such ignorance. Better for Ted to learn a bit first before making bold statements about our military, and esp. before attacking others for disagreeing with his statements.
