It doesn't matter if it is "true" or false. To give something that is "equal" that is really not equal- is both repugnant and at bottom false. It is the cheater's way. So whatever way we get around such cheating- will eventually be accepted, and is already accepted by people who prefer an equal result to lip service equality. It's the same problem people had with "separate but equal" for black people- at root, we all know it really isn't equality. And in the end the people who do not care about that, or who exult in it, will probably be judged rather harshly. Which, imo, they will totally deserve.
