Can anyone please give me some idea of the flavor of last night's and this morning's TV coverage in the States? Fearmongering or sit-tightmongering? I am in London and can't judge this influence on the small investors.

Thanks very much in advance.

Cheers,
Bond

Roger, I beleive we may break through the regression channel bottoms on the indices today. (Think we already have - the only question now is do we close below them.)

I will be looking for a bounce up to the channel bottoms from somewhere below here. This will be a reflex rally, which could take several months to put in. We could have some more "good times" for a while before hitting bottom (same or lower) again and before a real recovery.

If we break through the channel bottoms today, I will consider this a crash/bear market.

Update: oops, not quite! The DJ30 is now sitting right on the channel bottom, at 7050. However, all of the stocks are not yet open. The ANSDAQ Composite is still abovbe the channel bottom, which is at 1450.

Turning out bizarre, not ugly. I realize this isn't the Big Kahuna thread, but does anyone want to make a guess as to what is going to happen to earnings in tech stocks if there's a depression (sorry, recession) in Asia?

Really like the borrow list. There is definately more reality here than in other groups. EGRP will only get better as options business dwindles and orders are not filled on big down days and the lawsuits pile up afterward. Perhaps we could start a list of smaller cap/microcap shorts which are vastly overvalued & being propped up by less than scrupulous market makers. Examples could incude:

APAT (Applied Optics)
HHHH (For Health)
ISCO (Illinois Superconductor)
ISEE (Sterling Vision).
