Quick question from someone who mostly plays pennies: I'm seeing that earnings were announced on October 14? Was this just the pre-announce, with the actual earnings coming out November 11 or thereabouts? 3rd Friday in Novemeber looks to be the 21st. Well after earnings, if I've got the date right.

FWIW, INTC calls were extremely good to me in July (Yes sir, yes sir, 20 bags full). I intend to jump all over some Nov75's or 70's today whenever the bottom seems to be found.

Paul E. I was reading the Intel/DEC press release and was surprised to read that Intel now owns the rights to DEC's StrongARM processor? Is that right? Do you think Intel will somehow use this design to forge into the sub-$1000/electronic appliance market segment? I am surprised DEC would give this up since Palmer has been touting this chip for a long time.

thnaks,
joey

It could be, who knows? The present is a fact, the future is a guess. Actually the economy was in fairly goodc shape in 1987 if my memory is correct. The market was killed by high P/E ratios and high interest rates. We only have one of those now, and at the rate we are going P/E ratios will be "normal" very soon. At the close of 877 in the SP500, the P/e on 1998 estimated earnings is 18, a not unreasonable figure considering interest rates. There is now almost no chance the FEd will raise interest rates, a real plus for the market long term.
