I was thinking about how long it's been since a blockbuster drug was developed or a paradigm technology emerged I don't follow the drug world but the Internet combined with social networking and blogging is a drastic paradigm change and reinvention, done totally apart from and probably further undermining the position of traditional social guidance/control organizations. I think that's a big part of the reason the younger generation is less interested in seeing state control of society on so many levels. They grew up with individual initiative and room to express it however they and their friends like. Trying to fight that tide is like trying to fight the ocean tides with a bucket.
