Two, Clock, no offense meant, is not interested in constructive dialogue to learn. He likes to argue. I do nto like to argue. But to the point. Clock seldom looks at the big picture and political realities behind the actions he posts. They are gotcha posts and politicaly simplistic. There is a larger dynamic in Iraq that steers all our efforts, Clock never mentiones. I know little of the death squads (except bush created them by empowering the shia (who then could cause retribution on the sunnie for 30 years of brutal sunnie rule) and I like the Nation's reporting, but Obama was handed an impossible situation. He has to manage Iraq, and the military, all the while with the right wing biting his heels and looking to twist the story so as to move the blame for Iraq onto Obama. The problem is intractable and unsolvable until a civl war sorts out the power again. Obama has no good choices. He cannot just wave a magic wand as clock seems to think. There are probably politics involved we do not understand e.g. we are supposed to be out by the end of June. But the minute we leave the shia will finish the job of taking over control of the Sunnie and finishing the sunnie genocide which has been going on for years. What is Obama to do? Bush started a war of choice with Iraq, with no thought and without even talking to his dad, or anyone else much, and knowing nothing realistic about their culture and tribes, or realzing he would strengthen Iran and create a situation which would destroy the country and surely end in civil war. Iraq is now considered one of the most dangerous countries on earth. Bush destroyed the entire country and then when he got tired just walked away from all the trouble he caused like a bored little kid who got tried of playing and also did not want to pick up his toys; and handed the unsolvable mess he created over to Obama. There is going to be a horrible civil war when we leave and the right wing will blame it on Obama, although it is 100% bush's fault.
