Scott:

Re: ESCHWAB worthless right now

Yeah, I'm not too happy with Schwab this morning at all. I get an "Error 0" when I try to log on through the Web (no explanation), and both the ESchwab and regular Telebroker phone numbers are busy. Makes it very difficult to get a real-time quote, let alone trade. Are other brokerages having this problem today?

Adam

Not only was e-schwab out, but Telebroker and Schwab 500 phone in were non functional also. Schwab fees have been worth it to me in the past because I could get them when I wanted. If I can't get them when I need them, I might as well be with somebody cheaper. I hope others on this thread will relate their broker experience near the tunaround this AM

Scott, I think the theory here is that this is the time the
brokerage house and the hot-shot clients and the BIG GUYs ..etc..
etc.. to make some easy money. They rather give the trade to you
free comparing to what they can make out of situation like this.

Get used to it. Hopefully, these events does not happen that many
times.

Since things are still more or less unsettled. Your buy/sell maybe
just as well a HOLD.

I think the events went like this: (from memory, not exact of course)

1. HK crashed -12% thursday
2. DOW downd -100+pt thursday
3. HK recovered +7% friday
4. DOW down -100+pt friday
5. HK down -6% Monday
6. DOW donw -554+pt Monday
7. HK down -13.7% Tuesday (and the whole world)
8. DOW up(so far)+100+pt Tuesday

Looks like we are the only who can sustain these assults, wise or
otherwise. The picture is unclear (to myself) from now on. Long
term, this is good buy. Short term, have fun and don't get too close
to a window. (fear of sudden sucking draft)

A side story, last Friday I tried to get into T.ROWE price to buy
some Science and Technology and for the 1st time, couldn't get thru
repeated. I managed to get it right before the closing to get that
day's price. I wish I didn't try so hard. You know the story.
