Management makes the decisions; like fight mileage standards, fight seat belts, fight airbags, fight cat converters, etc.

Foreign management embraced all of them pre-emptively.


I have the same anger for GM's mgmt as I have for Bush's 8 years. Its infuriating when there is such a high level of incompetency in such high places. It does so much damage. To think, that GM now is an also ran also pisses off what's left of my sense of nationalism.

Actually, no. That was the big argument that the Big 3 used when those things were proposed. "Our competition doesn't do them" they said. Now, they did later, but that was used by the anti-regulation forces for decades to keep things watered down.

Much to the detriment of the US auto industry. They had the lead and they pissed it away.
