But which brand of conservatism do they want, some clean, abstract and polite version wedded to principle and still open to a big tent, or the RNS variety with daily crap- and bomb-throwing at all who would dare to deviate from the True Chosen Path?

Off camera, they would probably admit that the latter, the RNS crowd, is just about all the party has left unless someone like Pawlenty really starts to get traction.

I watched Meet the Press as well and that is not how I interpreted it at all. They said that Republicans lost because they spent WAY to much money, ran up huge deficits and they are not inclusive of the social libertarians in the party. And IMO they are spot on!

Mike Murphy is an excellent Republican strategist and I hope he has a huge hand in picking the next Republican Presidential candidate.
