"If a person walks into a physicians office or ER and says, "I have no money and need to be seen" the first thing that person will hear is, "Are you qualified for Medicaid? All you have to do is go to the local office and get your medicaid card and we can see you". This is bullshit too. You're just LYING. What you hear is "How do you intend to pay for the service, then?" before being sent to a free clinic that will tell you they're treating everyone they can or elsewhere or turned away. It's not the doctor's function to sign you up for Medicaid - I've never had one offer it to me, and I pay out of pocket. Which is why most uninsured people NEVER walk into the office. They get rolled into the ER on a gurney.
