Government is pretty efficient. Not perfect, but there is no other entity that does so many different things. Imagine running a company that had to do all the various different functions government is required to do, from regulating the food supply to putting troops on the ground in Afghanistan.

LOL.

Government: A model of efficiency.

Must be how we got that $2 Trillion deficit we're now facing.

RW, you really may be the most clueless person I've ever encountered. In my LIFE.

I've known some total idiots. But even THEY knew that government was the least efficient, most wasteful, least productive organization on earth.

But you do have time to make cheap shots and continue calling anyone who wants more efficient government "selfish."

He's bought the party line hook, line and sinker. He's become an immovable force......the Iranian Revolutionary Guards if you will.

I can't believe these "conservatives" criticize the DMV. I've been to DMV's in Texas, CA and Utah. They've all been almost carbon copies of each other, and to me, they all seemed MODELS of efficiency. Licencing EVERY vehicle and driver in the state.

First off, I only had to go to the DMV at all because I'd moved to a new state or bought a used vehicle. Otherwise, my interaction has always been mail-based.

Once there though, I've always been impressed how they deal with the totally unpredictable size of crowd they have to handle. You don't have to line up, you just take a number and sit. There's no chance that someone who came in later than you will be served before you, so there are no disputes over that.

It wasn't meant to be pleasant, only efficient, but I think they do a great job.

RW, > Think going broke will solve the problem? CA is, what?, the world's 8th biggest economy? How can it be "one of the worst states to do business in"?

CEOs have consistently ranked CA as the worst state to do business in:

reuters.com

As for going broke, CA can easily fix that problem by cutting spending. Per-capita spending has increased every year, even when inflation is taken into account. Most of that is due to voter initiatives, but voters also voted against raising taxes on themselves. Go figure.

Obviously you side with those who want to vote themselves a raise every year over those who see costs spiraling out-of-control. Think our society will survive that way? I doubt it.
