A sprint is what's a sprint for you. On my Heavy Hands walks, a sprint can be climbing a hill or shadow boxing while walking. They raise the heartbeat a lot for a few minutes, then it's back to the regular pace.

"...this probably explains why i enjoy running in my 40s and i absolutely hated it in high school"

That's because for most of us, running in high school ruined our lives; running in our 30s or 40s dramatically improves it!

When my back can tolerate it, I still do TT training on my racing bike. I'm only about 1 mph slower now than in 1988 over a 10 mile course. I was fitter and recovered more quickly then, but I can read my body better now and ride smarter. The course is the same.

I don't do it too often -- 2 or 3 times a year. It's painful. <g>
