Katelew;

I'm just not convinced that our Democratic led Congress will find the right balance, i.e. will pour excessive taxpayer money into the creation of those jobs.

Not sure I understand what you say here? Are you suggesting Congress will pour too much money into job creation?

I think different than most people on jobs; I think we should look at lots of job creation through projects that benefit the people. Unemployment, as Mary says, is very high and going higher; therefore lets use this resource (labor) to build stuff. Bridges, alternate energy, biotechnolgy, schools, broadband, efficient distribution of energy, etc. Better to do that than pay for food stamps, unemployment benefits, welfare. ......BUT, do not encourage more spending by the consumer. Give them time to readjust and hopefully higher savings.

That is the nature of the beast in a representative form of government. Everyone will vote for self interest. The great majority of people will vote to be fiscally responsible. That is a cheap path to getting elected. Just say no to spending taxpayor money and promise to lower taxes.

Never mind about repairing crumbling infrastructure and doing things that governments have to do to insure security and investing for a more prosperous future. They jst know that elected officials are stupid, corrupt, and incapable of doing any good. They keep reminding us of these principles when they keep pushing know nothing politicians into elected office, i.e. GWB, Cheney, Palin. et al.....

All kidding aside, I am still amazed that Obama has been elected. I think he will make a difference (although it is hard to see just how that is to come about). My sense is that Obama is the most popular person in the world and because of that the world is much better off, more confident, and more green shoots will be sprouting allowing for a greater chance for prosperity for all.
