The point is that there is an incompetent policy that massively increases the cost of claim handling for no value, whatsoever.

They are not in place because without them there'd be massive cheating?

"No private insurer would do this"

Complete and total asstalk. A private insurer would JUMP AT THE EASY CLAIM DENIAL. They probably have a special crew of dedicated pencil-necks examining every form for such mistakes.

Not just private insurers. I've gotten my medicine from Pharma companies free because I don't have insurance in the past - ALL of them will not do it if you don't dot EVERY "i" and cross every "t" correctly. The company that makes time-release insulin (Lantus) makes you re-apply EVERY MONTH. I finally just gave up because it's too much hassle.

> The gov't provides instructions on how to fill out its forms.

That's not the point.

The point is that there is an incompetent policy that massively increases the cost of claim handling for no value, whatsoever.

The point is people need to read the instructions.....nothing more, nothing less. This is not new news.......if you don't fill out your income taxes properly, you get them back or worse you get audited. Gov't requires you complete forms in accordance with the instructions they proved......so does the private sector but I won't go there. [EOS]
