My question was rhetorical.

While that letter was way too long to read in its entirety, it was clear that this "expert" didn't get his recommendations quite right. It's full of the now pretty well discredited fat-phobia. It even takes a swipe at cholesterol which has been so utterly discredited as a cause of heart disease that some "experts" are even acknowledging it.

If he were to shorten his message to a rant against sugar and processed food and a promotion of fresh fruit and vegetables, I would support it. But as an "expert" he can't help throwing in those old saws, which is why I say "they" do not know what a healthy diet is. He even quotes the American Heart Association recommendation that we get 40% of our calories from grains, for heaven's sake. And he fusses about trans-fats, which are only a problem because the "experts" forced producers to create an alternative to the dreaded saturated fats resulting in processing of the recommended polyunsaturated into something worse than the original saturated fats.

I am reluctant to get the government more involved than it already is until there is a demonstration that the message is, as you say, valid.

How about a short note to summarize your thoughts instead of a book?
