Electric vehicles are more efficient in terms of energy than using electricity generated from natural gas and coal to refine a barrel of oil to propel our cars with gas.

Listen.. when you get battery storage to have both longevity, and affordability, then talk to me about EVs.

The problem is that we're YET to see those two qualities combined.

When that Chevy Volt gets priced at the $20-25K level, with batteries that can last for 10 years with 80% of their capacity, THEN YOU CAN TALK ABOUT EVs.

The technology and scale will improve enough over the next 15 years to provide electric cars that go as far as ICE cars and that are cost competitive.

Until then, they just cannot compete with Fossil Fuel technologies, so talk to me then..

And btw, the oil refining process doesn't rely upon electricity to distill and fraction crude oil:

Sure.. electricity is involved in running pumps, switches, and computer management screens. But that's no different that how electricity is used for our water and sewage management systems.
