Al, > How do you explain Ford?

Management has done a great job reducing costs of labor, shoring up their finances, and revitalizing their whole business plan. It was a stroke of genius to turn down bailout money from government, even though they continue to lose money hand-over-fist.

Unlike with GM, the unions played ball with Ford management. They saw a clear plan toward self-sustainability and decided it was better to accept concessions than to stay locked in a death spiral.

The point is that it's always a two-way street. This is the kind of stuff that cannot be blamed on one party or another, nor is it the kind of stuff that can be regulated in.
