Only another Hoover would choose a moment like now with a deflationary spiral hanging over our heads to focus on purging financial excesses. Whatever the merits of that policy in the future, it has very little to do with the here and now. But the criticisms of Obama keep jumping back and forth so fast around these different issues, I can no longer keep track. The problem with all the howling is that there is no coherent alternative plan on the table for voters to choose between, no plan and no credible leadership on the right outside the talk jock screamers and a lame bunch of Republicans on the Hill.
