I'm sure that would help to some degree but the northern pods don't get that far south to take advantage of some of those runs. The Columbia used to have very large runs but if you look at the runs north into B.C. waters they were historically even larger.

Agreed.

There is more than enough land that has been trashed by man and abandoned in the desert SW that could be used to power virtually all of the U.S.

You just have to carefully pick and fully evaluate your spots for development.
