Having gained some experience with how the media was likely to spin her resignation, she should have been better prepared. Like you, I think that the truth should have sufficed, whatever the truth was. And that should have been enough. Truth isn't necessarily satisfactory or sufficient for the media, however. The media will spin whatever she (or anyone else for that matter) says however they like, the media's "BS" if you will. So those who have to deal with the media get defensive. Parsing becomes a sport and the truth suffers because of that. And I disagree completely with your last statement. I always try to put myself in other peoples' shoes, whether I agree with their views or not. I imagine the intense scrutiny and criticism of her since last fall has been extremely difficult for her, but she volunteered to run for VP, and since the election she appears to thrive on baiting her critics. IMO it's always good to be tolerant of those who we suspect of intolerance, and keep trying to show the best example. That wasn't the way that I read your original post. When I read:"Trailer Trash" is electable in the US? - IMO that's what's scary And besides, do we really need another fundamentalist Christian to push their agenda as president? I thought you were being as intolerant as a McCarthy. Like Chancels, I feel the need to point out that my defense of Palin is in no way an endorsement of her. I just see, like I think Jim does, a real urgency in the media to Bork her as soon as possible.
