>Dataquest originally forecasted that Asia-Pacific's total IC business would grow by 15% to $34 billion in 1997, but the market research company now predicts the region will only achieve 8% growth, to $32 billion, this year. <<

First thing companies like dataquest can do is let their analyists finish high school. Giving jobs like these to colleage drop outs is not the way to raise confidence in their ability to predict and see patterns and growth based on statistics and market visibility. It all starts when you are very young, If you pay attention in class, you have a better understanding of the mathematical models of time and space I mean of world interaction with growth and economy.. But then again I could be totally wrong and a 7% slower growth only drops 2 bil from a 15% growth of 34 bil.

Considering the Dataquest occured today (10/28/97; 12:10 p.m. EST) during market hours, hopefully, this article does not have any affect on tomorrow's trading.
