Please Lord, I don't want to ride through eternity on a Gray Lines tour bus.

Been thinking about that linked post - a lot.

The Japanese lost decade is now a generation long, and looking like forty years in the wilderness will be the next milepost.

Applying a similar evolving demographic mix to the Western world, and voila, the roadmap to correct investing gets a whole lot clearer.

Which is to say, there might not be a bull market in just about anything you care to name. Pretty scary thought. I always figured gold would one day take off, but the necessity for "ready" to buy one's daily vittles by an increasingly desperate populace may trump whatever fundamentals the Aztec metal may possess.

So we're left with trading. Day trading and swing trading the inevitable ups and downs. Sit tight, lie in cash, and wait for those hunting opportunities. Don't expect a big herd of anything to come by your camp site and lead you to the promised land.

No workable investing strategy. Such a nasty concept, but nasty may be the reality we face.
