CA as you describe seems like what we non-Californians assume it to be - only worse. Anarchy filled with crazy and lawless people, though I'm sure not everywhere is as bad what you experienced. I can understand why people are leaving.

Liberals who get mugged are supposed to become conservative but I guess other things can prevent that - transference, stockholm syndrome, too much of one's self-identity tied up in your political identity. I will avoid more comments about liberalism b/o your condition.

At any rate, you have had a lot of stress thrown at you (life changing things cause stress and you've had a host of them) and that may be making your other physical health problems (asthma, bronchitis, emphysema) worse.

At any rate, I think you need to get off politics and political threads. You are on SI all the time basically engaging in divisive stuff all the time. You've talked about your hatred for "neos" being important to you. Hatred is bad for you. I've told you before and I'm telling you again for your own good. All those negative emotions can't be good for you. Its crazy to keep doing this. It has to be hurting you. So STOP IT. Don't talk to people online or offline about politics or divisive social issues, don't think about them, don't go to divisive websites. That includes liberal ones where you agree with the people cause the topic is always gonna be "how terrible are those other people" who aren't like us. That thinking isn't good for you. You're hurting yourself.

Find pursuits that don't involve negative emotions and thinking. Heck, play games, read novels, whatever.

I see you're one of the folks who are "ignoring" me. I was gonna give you some more suggestions by PM. As you know we've communicated by PM before. If you recall, I offered some advice by PM once before but not knowing any of the things you just revealed. I won't repeat that, but will say a few other general things. I don't know what your religious background is but I don't think based on your previous PM that you're completely non-spiritual so I'm just gonna say a few things for whatever it may be worth.

You know ministers of whatever faith you might involve yourself with don't simply preach sermons. They usually have training and experience counseling people. In fact, that is the bulk of their work, I think. You mentioned psychiatrists - well ministers do this and they don't charge and they pray for you too. Speaking of that, most religious institutions have prayer services that are very different in nature from Sunday services. At such services, its common for people to share burdens that they and loved ones are dealing with and pray for one another. A lot of people get a lot from this. Maybe you would. You don't know. Also most religious institutions have many ways that people can get involved in helping other folks. This is usually a very positive thing that benefits everyone involved, not just those receiving the help.

OK, thats all I guess. Best wishes. And get off these political threads, please.
