Can anyone point me to some data to refute this statement he made?

Since they are all wrong, and wouldn't indicate "Global Warming" even if they weren't, go to the Eco blog and email away from the articles there. Link

www.climatedepot.com gathers the science against AGW and has a search engine. eg.

NO DISSENT ALLOWED: Polar bear expert Mitch Taylor barred from conference over 'extremely unhelpful' skeptical global warming view visit site

'Attendance voted down by members because of his views on global warming' -- Research revealed bear 'numbers are higher than they were 30 years ago'
telegraph.co.uk

Polar bears have lived through the last 20 ice ages and interglacials up there, and are in one of habitats least impacted by man on the planet. They are just fine. Point out that they don't drown when stranded on ice floes either, like Al Gore told us, because they can swim for 50 miles.

Ditto for the icecaps, which are not melting. The ice was down a couple of years ago, but last winter was cold and it all came back. Now they are trying to tell us that it doesn't count because it's only one-year ice. If you ask climatologists whether the ice mass of the antarctic is growing or shrinking, they argue for an hour with no conclusion. But one west antarctic ice shelf is melting, and that's where they get the pictures.

It's all hooey, and desperate hooey because we are in a cooling cycle now, and they know another summer of record lows like this one and global warming's going to be a real tough sell.

Just tell him that the whole damn thing is based on computer models, whose results turn on feedback coefficiants that cannot be measured directly, and if the models couldn't predict today's climate ten years ago, what kind of fools are we if treat their predictions of a hundred years from now as gospel? Freeman Dyson, the physicist, has great takedowns on the dangers of scientists falling in love with their computer models. He says he's been there and done that.

Here are some starters for your friend....not that he will do any research for himself. I've noticed most of the Libs won't do research...they would rather just parrot their own belief systems and not to try to find some actual proof to support any of those beliefs....

Here is a link previously posted on this thread that I found putting in "polar ice caps" under "search this subject".
