While there was growth in GDP, how could there NOT have been?

Finally, an admission by you that government spending can create economic growth during times of private sector contraction.

This really isn't a legitimate debate subject. The policy of FDR actually prolonged, not shortened, the depression -- taking us basically 10 years to dig our way out of it. That certainly isn't a track record we should be pleased with.

Europe had come out of their recession around 34 - 36. In fact if they had not Germany would not have been able to build its huge military. Or at least not huge enough to start WWII.

And don't claim his buildup pulled them out. France, Belgium, Switzerland and others had pulled out without massive build ups.
