Here's what AMAT's customers are seeing in this bull market today....

Today's Commentary: 10/28/97

Spot market prices for most Intel CPUs and 16 meg DRAM
are declining. In all probability, pricing opportunities on
CPUs will spur OEM interest in what has quickly become a
buyers market.

I still think this is a bigger story that we need to watch..unitl this DRAM situation works out...Semi caps may have some bad days ahead. And to think this is the busiest season for DRAM sales.

Roly, I remember you disscussing with somebody about the growing influence to the market of those Baby Boomers who have a huge stake in the market thru 401Ks. There will come a time that, as the individual investor learns more how to handle his own investment money thru education from the Internet, he, the small guy will play a greater role in the direction of the market. Right now, the Big mutual funds and other big groups often make a particular stock go up or down according to their whims...Yes, Roly, I noticed that the small guy is a Long-term investor who don't panic; if he can not access the telephone because all the brokers or mutual fund personnel are busy,--- would just shrug his shoulder and say:---"...well,...it will go up in the long run, anyway..."
