"How come the military gets whatever it wants but our healthcare is on a strict budget?"

Brainwashing from the military-industrial-government complex. War is heroic and patriotic. You're taught this by John Wayne from the time you can see the TV.

Actually, war is usually institutionalized murder for business or political purposes.

Healthcare on a strict budget? How do you think Medicare got $36 Trillion in the hole? It is from spending beyond its means. Year after year.

Your question illustrates just how ignorant most people are about this subject. While you are generally one of the most ignorant individuals I can ever recall encountering, on this subject you are no worse than most.

Most people just don't understand what the issues are. If you want to save money in health care you don't do it with IT. You don't do it with a government takeover. You don't do it with any of the things Obama has proposed.

You do it by letting people die whose lives are now saved. People who want that last year of life after cancer, let 'em go. People who have AIDs. Let 'em die. People with pulmonary disorders? People with CHF? People with emphysema? Premature babies?

Let all these people die instead of saving their lives and you eliminate the health care finance problem.

The Obama administration, of course, knows this. But they can't say it. If he tells you, "We may have to just allow some of those with pulmonary disorders to die" -- then you're not going to support his plan. I'm not, either. But that is how you save money in health care.

Unfortunately, there isn't any other way. This is why other countries don't offer the quality of care we do, and why they don't employ these measures (see the recent decision by the Brits to deny certain cancer treatments due to cost).

We can have health care at 9% of GDP easily. Just let 'em die.
