some of the software is used to anticipate what changes in conditions induce other alogorithms to kick in with buys or sells. i think that's what they mean by manipulation.

Fake volume generates deceptive or false demand for stocks.
Other than the almighty buck there is no justification for this exploitation.
A child could see through these tactics.

leave poor GS alone. they pay taxes, too. $11.5 billion in bonuses... that's nothing compared to how much they paid in taxes in 2008. the country literally runs of GS taxes. i mean $14 million in taxes is huge. oh... wait...
