Singer is taken seriously and if we get gov't care people like him will be making decisions on how scarce health care resources should be rationed. Personally, I think the recognition and promotion of such "bioethicists" is intended to prepare the way for the eventual govt assumption of all our health care decisions.

Its one thing for a person near death to decide to decline what may be pointless treatment to limit suffering, another when "bioethicists" on panels make the decisions for everyone.
