They could use Posner as RNC chairman, to drag the party back to reality.

Thanks for that longish post about Posner, Win. A couple of comments.

1. Michael (gs) is only here to get the thread riled up. He's not concerned about the accuracy of his proposals. So if we spend a good bit of space contesting him on this or that, he's achieved his purpose.

2. I particularly like the Posner observation about our "fiscal incontinence." Wonder how long it took him to come up that little bit. I could have spent half the afternoon digging around that one and still found only a weak version of it. But, for Posner, no problem.

3. My green is envy.

Whenever someone spends this much effort attacking my post, with little or no substance behind it, I realize I've made a valid point.

In regard to the law, Posner is an intellectual giant. He stands above petty party ideology and selections based on simplistic political models like conservative/liberal. Just the kind of person who should sit on the Supreme Court.

Unfortunately, Team Obama would never consider someone of his stature, because they need to pander to the extreme left wing, and select appointees based on shallow superficial things like ethnicity, race or gender.
