I'm sorry I just have to laugh at that question:

Lawn service in Seattle is regulated.

That shows there is too much regulation.

How can you say that when you don't know why its regulated?

What could possibly be a good reason for a city to regulate lawn care? I can see home owner associations badgering people in their area to keep their lawns mowed .... but come on, what does Seattle do - send out lawn inspectors with rulers to check grass height? Issue tickets? Do they call for police backup when ticket writing isn't enough? I can imagine the TV shows this might inspire - Biff Nelson, Lawn Inspector!

Did you see the Dept of Walking in Minneapolis?

Nothing wrong with that.....they are encouraging the population to be more healthy. Why do you have a problem with that? Did you know that obesity is at an all time high among children and now children are getting adult Diabetes and other adult illnesses because of their poor health.

One, you realize no one is really going to change their behavior because a city hires some "walking ambassadors". People will do whatever walking they want to - department of walking or not.

Two, this is obviously just a make-work project. I've heard of "walking around money" before, but this is the real thing.

Or the $200K program to encourage drinking tap water there.

Let's look at what's accomplished by getting people to drink tap water instead of bottled water. First of all, most bottled water IS tap water. So by eliminating the plastic bottle, you reduce litter, free up space in garbage landfills and reduce our dependency on oil. Oh wait......you work for an oil company. Never mind.

Yep, there you have it. I only think this is silly because of all the profits we're gonna make on water bottles. LOL
