Tom, The news tonight from Canada is that our central bank is threatening to enter the currency markets to prevent the Canadian dollar from rising further against the US$. The US is our prime customer and to let the C$ go higher threatens the recovery of our export industries. Seems to me the only way he can do this is to buy US$.

It seems to me that Canada is not alone. One can understand how even China would not like to see the US$ in a free-fall, for the same reasons.
