They want the strawman to be reality. It's hard to deal with a complex reality full of people who balance things slightly different from you, It's a classic rhetorical blackmail technique. Here is a positive goal; unless you support my policy prescription to achieve it, you oppose achieving it in principle at all. No other options or formulations are possible in our universe. Total nonsense, as any freshman PoliSci prof will tell you. But Logic 101 is not a minimum criteria for "political debate" in the US.

"I understand it's very easy to create bizarre strawman arguments like "Democrats don't care about wealth creation"- but it's absolutely pointless to argue with people who create those arguments. They want the strawman to be reality. It's hard to deal with a complex reality full of people who balance things slightly different from you, but who are not inhuman enough to be classified as "the enemy". Much easier to just make them the enemy and avoid the hassle of nuance." It is not that they do not think they don't care about wealth creation - they simply do not understand it. Go back and look at the race horse analogy. No one cared to touch that one - why?
