I think it's kinda funny how some believe the burden of "diffusing" the situation is the sole responsibility of a cop on the beat, and not a Harvard trained scholar. I suppose Harvard trained scholars are only supposed to be diffused, and not have to suffer through the indignity of diffusing anyone else.

I wonder if his buddy the Mayor had the charges dropped by making a phone call to the police station? My bet is that's the way it went down. I'll also bet the recordings will never see the light of day if they show Dr. Gates in a less than honorable light. Probably why we haven't seen them surface yet.

You think this guy has more challenge getting through his day than the other 95% of the population who does not go postal on a cop?

Would you care to list for us the racial slurs you've endured in your life?

If you have none, how can you judge him?

How many insults can you endure before you snap?

I've seen the racial angst that my black students suffer. It is unimaginable for us.

(Please understand, I don't condone his attitude toward the cop, just trying to understand his mindset.)
